Deniz ÖZKAN was born on 15 May 1975 in Nicosia. Her mother and father were civil servants. She completed her primary school education at Şehit Ertuğrul Primary School, and after that, she continued her high school education at B. Türk Maarif College where she graduated in 1993.

In 1993, she continued her university education at the ELL Department of the Near East University. After graduating in 1997, she started working at the Near East Junior College as an English teacher. Meanwhile, she also completed her MA degree at the ELT department of the same university in 2004.

While working as an English teacher at the Junior College, she also worked as a part-time lecturer at the Near East University for four years where she gave grammar and writing lessons. Thereafter, in 2009, she attended a series of education programmes organised by the British Council, and after passing an on line examination which was administered by Cambridge University, she became an oral examiner for ESOL YLE (Starters, Movers, Flyers), KET and PET exams.

She is currently continuing her work as an English teacher, and teaches the students who are preparing for the Flyers examination as well as coordinating the first and second year English teachers at the Near East Junior College. Besides, she is continuing in her position as a speaking examiner for ESOL and KET and PET .

She is married and has two children.
