Biography

İlknur Ömürlü was born in 1984 in Nicosia. Her father was a non-commissioned officer and her mother was a housewife.She completed her elementary education in Nicosia. She graduated from Nicosia Turk Maarif College in 2001. She obtained a Bachelor Degree in English Language Teaching at Eastern Mediterranean University in 2005. After her graduation, she worked as an instructor at the English Preparatory school of Cyprus International University for three semesters. In  February 2007, she started to work as an ESP instructor  at European University of Lefke. She also worked as an instructor in the EUL Writing Centre. Ömürlü, fulfilled the requirements of the Teaching Knowledge Test by Cambridge ESOL Examinations in April 2007. She has been working as an English teacher at the Near East Junior College since September 2007.  The following year, she completed a 15 hour teacher training program on Principles and Practices in teaching Young Learners offered by the Oxford Teacher’s Academy in 2008.She then obtained an MA degree in English Language Teaching at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at the Near East University in 2010.Thereafter, she went on to complete a 15 hour teacher training program on Principles and Practices in teaching Teenagers offered by Oxford Teacher’s Academy in 2015. She has been a PhD student at the Faculty of Psychological Counselling and Guidance at Near East University since 2016.
