Near East Junior College students were presented their Cambridge Certificates due to their 100% achievement in YLE Exams

A certificate presentation ceremony was held because of the outstanding achievements of the Near East Junior College Students at the Cambridge YLE Exams, which are organised by Cambridge English Language Assessment (previously known as University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations), that is acknowledged as the world’s leading provider of a range of qualifications for learners and teachers of English.

It was announced that a certificate presentation ceremony was held at the Orange Hall of Faculty of Communication of Near East University and students were awarded their Cambridge Starters, Movers and Flyers Certificates. Furthermore, it was stated that the Director of British Council Cyprus, James Martin and Chairs Seda Selçuk Tanova, Natasha Apostolidou and Constantina Pambis also attended the certificate presentation ceremony to share the joy of the Near East Junior College students.

% 100 Success…
A total of 173 Near East Junior College took the Cambridge YLE Exams this year and they made 100% achievement. Moreover, it was pointed out that 81 of these students sat the Starters test, 53 took Movers whereas the other 39 sat Flyers examination. Their four skills of language, reading and writing; listening; and speaking were assessed. Since the date of foundation, Near East Junior College has prioritised educating its students in English and therefore, the “Cambridge Young Learners” curriculum is integrated into the curriculum utilized at the school.

Near East Junior College (NEJC) Headmaster, Hasan Yükselen, made a statement due to the certificate presentation ceremony and stated that they highly valued their students’ participation in international exams; and that they aimed the NEJC students to effectively communicate in the target language.

He further explained that each stage of the Cambridge YLE Exams served as the foundation of the next stage to follow. Moreover, he expressed that the YLE curriculum required lexis in English and knowledge on grammar. He also stated how proud they were, as a school, of their students’ achievements.

In addition to his above statements, it was pointed out that the Headmaster of NEJC, Hasan Yükselen, congratulated and thanked the teachers of the English Language Teaching Department for working hard and enabling their students’ achievements. He added that they held the certificate awarding ceremony to honour and acknowledge the 7-11 year old students’ achievements; alongside trigger their motivation to further English exams to be taken in the near future. Headmaster of NEJC, Hasan Yükselen ended his words by making a promise to continue to educate children to make future achievements in these exams.
