Parents of children studying at Near East Junior College were given a seminar on Exam Anxiety

Parents of Year 4 and 5 students of Near East Junior College were given a seminar on exam anxiety.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the seminar was realised with the contributions of Near east Schools Group Guidance Coordinator Pedagogue Ayşen Oy and they were informed exam anxiety and parental attitudes, correct and false behaviours and the importance of school-family cooperation in child's success. They were provided suggestions on what could be done to reduce exam anxiety.


At the seminar, Pedagogue Ayşen Oy stated that the current ages of the year 4 and 5 students were pre-adolescent age of the children and therefore, rather than pressuring them it was very important to establish open communication with them. Furthermore, she emphasised the influence of school-parent cooperation on a child’s success. Also, she stated that recognizing the child's abilities and identifying what the child can and/or cannot do will greatly increase the child's success at school and in life generally.

It was stated that at the end of the seminar, Pedagogue Ayşen Oy answered parents’ questions regarding the matter.
