8-Year-Old Makes History in the National Uniform!

Cesur Ege Denerel, an 8-year-old student at Near East Primary School who received an award at the “National Athletes Honor Night,” will compete for the Turkish National Badminton Team at the “Zagreb Open 2025” tournament in Zagreb, Croatia.

Near East Primary School prepares its students for the future in the most equipped and best possible way, prioritizing not only their academic development but also their physical and artistic development. One of the brightest examples of this is the second-grade primary school student Cesur Ege Denerel. Eight-year-old Cesur Ege Denerel earned the right to compete in the Turkish National Team by placing second in the men’s doubles category at the 2024 Under-9 Turkish Badminton Championships held in Çorum.

Cesur Ege Denerel, who earned the title of the youngest national athlete in badminton in Turkey and the TRNC with his outstanding achievements in national and international tournaments, represented the Turkish National Team in three competitions at the “Istanbul Open Youth Badminton 2025” tournament held in Istanbul from July 9-13, 2025.

Cesur Ege Denerel, who attracted attention with his performance, also received an award at the “National Athletes Honor Night” held at the TRNC Presidency, with the participation of Osman Aşkın Bak, Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey.

The accomplished athlete, who continues his success without slowing down, will compete in the Turkish National Team at the “Zagreb Open 2025” tournament to be held in Zagreb, Croatia, from September 19-21, 2025.

Coşar emphasized that the accomplished athlete’s status as the youngest national athlete in Turkey and the TRNC is just the beginning. “We do regard this success as a beginning.
