Near East Primary School Wins Double Championship in Gymnastics!

Near East Primary School became the TRNC champion with both its girls’ and boys’ teams in the “2025-2026 Academic Year Inter-Primary School Artistic Gymnastics Competitions.”

In artistic gymnastics, where discipline, balance, and aesthetics come together, Near East Primary School students achieved a significant success. Competing in the “2025-2026 Academic Year Inter-Primary School Artistic Gymnastics Competitions” organized by the Ministry of National Education, the girls’ and boys’ gymnastics teams of Near East Primary School won first place in their respective categories with their successful performances, becoming TRNC champions.

The Near East Primary School Junior Girls’ Gymnastics Team finished the competition with 179.25 points, securing the championship. The team consisting of Mira Tarım, Pembe Kofalı, Elvin Çatozlular, Güneş Yıldırım, and Rezan Bulut achieved first place with their harmonious, aesthetic, and powerful performance, receiving high scores from the judges and becoming one of the most noteworthy teams of the day.

The Near East Primary School Boys’ Gymnastics Team also delivered a superior performance, becoming the TRNC Champion with a score of 93.35. The team, composed of Suat İrfan Günsel, Alp Güneşer, Aren Arnavutoğlu, and Güner Arnavutoğlu, managed to reach the championship podium with their outstanding performance. Thus, Near East Primary School experienced double pride in artistic gymnastics, becoming the TRNC champions in both girls’ and boys’ categories at the same event. The teams were trained for the championship by Sarel Yankıer, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Department at Near East Primary School.

Recalling that Near East Primary School recently won the TRNC championship in basketball, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cemre S.
