Leaders of the Struggle for Freedom were Commemorated in Near East Junior College

Cyprus Turkish Struggle for Existence Leaders Dr. Fazıl Küçük and Founding President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Rauf Raif Denktaş, were commemorated at Near East Junior College with respect.

According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the commemoration ceremony was held on Near East Junior College campus and the ceremony was initiated with a minute’s silence, followed by the national anthem. Subsequently, a number of speeches were made describing the struggles and acts carried out by Dr. Fazıl Küçük and Rauf Raif Denktaş during the Years of Struggle for Existence of the Turkish Cypriots. Furthermore, school authorities and students shared feelings and thoughts filled with gratitude for both leaders. It was stated that the ceremony ended with the musical performance made by the school’s choir and orchestra.

In addition to the above, it was pointed out that the commemoration event included description of all efforts put forward by valuable Turkish Cypriot leaders Dr. Küçük and Raif Rauf Denktaş; and as the future generation, the students made a promise to keep the torch of freedom burning.
