Gülçin Sesli, the founding director of the English Program implemented at the Near East Primary Schools in Yeniboğaziçi, Nicosia and Kyrenia brought her 25 years of teaching and managerial experience, which she gained in England, to the TRNC.

After Near East Yeniboğaziçi Primary School, the “English Program”, which was also started at Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School and Near East Primary School, opened the doors of education with the British education curriculum based on the Cambridge International Program. The program, which is open to foreign students living on the island as well as Turks who want their children to grow up with the British education curriculum, provides its students with the opportunity to adapt to the college system much more easily in their post-primary education life by gaining a command of English at the native language level. Registration for the program continues.

Gülçin Sesli, the founding director of the “English Programme”, which brings the students of Near East Primary Schools together with the Cambridge International Program, spoke on the advantages of the program for the students. Gülçin Sesli, who carried her 25 years of teaching and managerial experience in England to Near East Primary Schools, also teaches literacy and numeracy for London Local Literature. Sesli, who was also the Executive Director of 6 schools in the formation of the Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) in England, emphasizes that the “English Program”, which was started to be implemented at Near East Primary Schools, consists of a curriculum that will enable students to develop not only academically, but also socially, culturally and sportively.

Practice-based education model
Stating that with the English Program, they brought the national education curriculum implemented in the UK together with the students in the TRNC, Sesli gave detailed information about the “English Program”. The program, in which academic equipment and knowledge, skills and practice-based education are blended in a balanced way, has a rich content with basic subjects such as Turkish, French, English, mathematics, computers, science, art and design, technology and design, geography, history, music, physical education and moral education.

The English Program, which has been implemented at the Near East Yeniboğaziçi Primary School for two years, started to be implemented at the Near East Primary School and Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia Primary School. Emphasizing that they popularized the program throughout the TRNC, Gülçin Sesli said, “Our aim with the English Program is to offer our students an education at international standards. Because we care about them and we know that they are our future.” Touching on the importance of effective cooperation with parents, Sesli said that teachers and families communicate daily through the communication platform called “Classroom Dojo”.

Registration continues!
One of the most important advantages of the English Program is that the children who will be educated with the GCSE and A-Level curriculum during the college period take the same background from pre-school and primary school ages. With the GCSE and A-Level curriculum that Near East College, Near East Yeniboğaziçi College and Dr. Suat Günsel Kyrenia College offered to their students at the secondary and high school level, the education opportunity is expanded to include preschool and primary school age groups. The registration continues for the English Program, which aims to raise its students as native speakers, and as individuals who are self-confident, inquiring, able to establish cause-effect relationships, and have high awareness.
